Not much different from a regular chinese people, beause vietnames look very close to people of south western part of china but is smaller in body size, generally speaking. If his dad has the northern chnese ancestry, he may be taller and lighter in skin tone. Depending on which side of his parents he looks more like.

for chinese, it can be vietnamese, cantonese or mandarin.

Since chinese and vietnamese are both asian ethnic groups, he would probably look asian. Dark hair, dark eyes, possibly pale or medium tan skin. Well that’s how my half chinese half malaysian friend looks like!
