As for software, I haven't seen any. I've only found a bunch of textbooks but I think some of them might come with a CD.

With the dialect, it's hard to find one that will offer both dialect.

I'm half Vietnamese and just married a Viet girl a couple months ago. I had not spoken Vietnamese since I was a young child, and had to learn it again very quickly. That in mind, I've reviewed several programs to learn Vietnamese.

The two most popular programs are Rosetta Stone ( http://www.rosettastone.com ) and Pimsleur ( http://www.simonsays.com ). Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Rosetta Stone uses audio and visual technique, which requires it to be used on a computer. Pimsleur is almost entirely audio and can be played on a CD player.

Rosetta Stones is probably a better way to learn Vietnamese or any language, but Pimsleur is more convenient because all you need is a CD player.

Good luck to you!
