I am full Asian American (mostly Vietnamese, some Chinese) and I speak Vietnamese relatively well. I have one of those traditional strict Asian parents who want me to marry another Asian, preferably Vietnamese. They tell me that half white/half Vietnamese girls are trouble... but my goodness a lot of them are gorgeous! I've asked my friends/family and they all tell me that, for the most part those girls usually dislike their Asian heritage and want to be full white. So idk tell me what you think! =)

I hate these DVD videos that is produced by this vietnamese entertainment company named Asia Entertainment because all they ever talk about is the vietnam war. All of the songs in the video always talks about a vietnam war soldier who had harships through the war and I don't like listening to it. I'm a 2nd generation vietnamese and I don't care about the vietnam war or communism because the war has been over for 35 years. I just want to live life. I'm also planning to go to vietnam. Vietnam is a great place because it has beautiful girls and a cool place, I don't see why people are still bitter over losing the war. The war has been over for 35 years and people are still bitter over stupid stuff by producing crappy music videos about the vietnam war. I'm 20 years old and I hate this production company's dvds and my parents still buys it. I can't move out because my parents are still legally my parents and if i move out I would lose financial aid for college. I want to live in vietnam because it has beautiful vietnamese girls, you can get a girlfriend in vietnam in like 5 minutes.

I have a friend in Saigon that I have never met in person. She is in college. We chat online a lot and recently she gave me her address. I was asking her awhile ago about sending her a gift. At first she made it seem as if it may be inappropriate according to some of their beliefs. But when I explained how we do things in America, she felt so bothered by hurting me that she said she would never refuse again if I offered. So we exchanged addresses.

Everytime when I say I'm excited to go meet this vietnamese girl in vietnam who my aunt is introducing me to, he says you should be excited about your upcoming divorce. He says your a big sissy who can't get a girl so you get your momma to get you a girl, no girl wants to be with a guy like that. He also says you will cry so much when she leaves you that you will drown and sink like a ship. I told him that this is normal in the vietnamese culture and most girls from vietnam are faithful and they stay married with you no matter what income you make, low or high. I told him that vietnamese girls in vietnam are taught by their parents to get married once only. He says you're better off becoming a prostitute or a hooker because they make good money and all you want from this vietnamese girl is sex and nothing else. This is true and I'm wondering why he insults me like this ?? I know he is copying simon cowell's style of insults.

Hi, what kind of man do vietnamese girls usually fall for, and I don't mean vietnamese girls in europe or the U.S, I'm talking about vietnamese girls in vietnam. It seems like all they want is a guy that can tease them?

I'm kind of heartbroken because there is apparently no girls who likes me at all and there are no girls who want to date me. I'm 19 years old and there are girls who would talk to me but when i ask them out they said they only see me as a friend. I don't know whether being an asian or an Vietnamese guy has anything to do with my chances of dating. Sometimes because no girls has ever fallen for me i sometimes feel like crying and I do cry to be honest, only when i feel really bad i shed tears. I've talked to my mother who is vietnamese and she says sometimes things take time and If i have anymore trouble she is willing to help me out by arranging an marriage for me with a girl in my home country vietnam, she says she would ask one of aunts in Vietnam to find my bride. I've even asked Vietnamese Girls in the states out and they said that they don't like me because they think my family poor even though we're not very poor, We're about average or normal when talking about money. They said they only like rich guys and they said average people like me are going to be lonely for the rest of their lives and become gay. I don't know why people now a days thinks everything is gay. Hi, I am vietnamese myself, but have been living in europe for my whole now, and it's my first time in vietnam and I wanna date someone here. I speak fluently vietnamese, but I'm not that "sharp-minded", if you know what I mean, and vietnamese girls doesn't seems to like that. Plus I'm not that kind of person that talks much and I'm not good at starting conversations.

I know English is fairly extensively spoken among young Vietnamese in Saigon/HCMC but how about Hanoi??

Specifically, will it be easy to pick up a girl in Hanoi with only limited knowledge of Vietnamese (I am Vietnamese American but my Vietnamese is almost nonexistent). Do a lot of young women in Hanoi speak English (at least some)?

I'm interested in Hanoi specifically because I find the city more interesting than Saigon. Hanoi is more intellectual and historic (which is exactly my style).

It is my opinion that Hanoi IS more intellectual than Saigon. If you don't like that opinion than too damn bad, get over it.

And yes, people generalize all the time about cities.....

For example, people say San Francisco is a very liberal city which is quite true. People say Washington DC is a political city..... etc.

And in my opinion, Hanoi is a much more intellectual and historic city than Saigon. Saigon is better for business and finance.

also, i know Vietnamese girls pretty well. i have a lot of experience with Vietnamese-American girls so generally speaking i know what they are about.

i was just concerned about the language barrier with Vietnamese girls.

since i'm Vietnamese-American there is not much if any cultural barrier but there is a bit of a language barrier (i understand quite a bit of Vietnamese but i don't speak much myself).
