Ok should I make flash cards be because I have this DVD of learning Vietnamese and Portuguese and Italian so also which one should I learn first??

I've seen people asking about Vietnamese more and more on Yahoo Answer and many other sites. I do understand why people keep asking about language like Russian, Portuguese or Japanese but see no reason how come Vietnamese is now pretty popular. It's not one of 6 UN languages, Vietnamese people aren't everywhere like Chinese and I don't think Vietnam is #1 Tourists' destination or something. Anyone know?
