So why are many people (including many Vietnamese) still referring to Vietnam as a tiny country when it's bigger and more populated than many major world powers? Are they ill-informed (for most non-Vietnamese) or having an inferiority complex (for most Vietnamese) or both?

I know there're quite many generous native speakers from different cultures here. So plz help this poor girl xD.

I am trying to get a tattoo that says "death before dishonor" in vietnamese although I do not speak it.
I have come up with two different translations but I do not know the difference between the two. I would appreciate it if somebody who speaks the language fluently would tell me the difference and give me the translation that would be most understood by the native speakers. Please do not give translations from an online translator; I could very easily do that myself.

Translation 1: chết trước khi nhục
Translation 2: sự chết trước khi sự mất danh dự.
Thank you I could use that too but I still really wanna know if there is a critical or significant difference in these two translations.

I met this girl at my school and she's Vietnamese. She was saying that I probably couldn't speak Vietnamese if I tried. So, I really like her and I thought a good way to tell her that I like her would be to tell her in Vietnamese.

If any native speakers could give me a guide on how to pronounce the words and stuff, I will love you forever!
