I am obviously a native English speaker. I speak some Japanese and want to start learning Vietnamese. Should I learn the alphabet and the sounds first? Should I focus on reading and maybe translating? Anything would be helpful. Thanks!

I am a native English speaker, with working knowledge of Spanish. For various reasons, I have become interested in learning Korean and Vietnamese.
I am curious to gain perspective on different aspects of learning Vietnamese and Korean from people who speak and/or are learning either of these languages.
If you speak or are studying Vietnamese or Korean, feel free to share your experience/point of view on the difficulty or facility of pronunciation, grammar and/or writing system, as well as any other opinion.
I'm also wondering the advantage/functional value of either language at a professional level for work and their usefulness during travel in Asia for leisure.
Please focus your responses on these languages. Discussion of chinese is for another post, unless it serves in the consideration of the target languages.
Thanks in advance!

I am a college graduate with a B.S in Business Admin and I am working on my masters. I am thinking of teaching English in Asia, but do not know where or what companies to look for. My friend taught english in Japan with a company called GEOS? I am looking for a company that provides salary, benefits and place to live. I am a native english speaker but I also speak vietnamese and chinese.

vietnamese is the 13th among the widely spoken languages. so why don't you learn vietnamese in order to find a good job.
I am a vietnamese so I want to find a native english speaker to train my English, and i also help you learn vietnamese. today, vietnamese developed quickly...and my country is lack of foreign officer so much......so why don't you come to vietnam once.......are you think vietnamese is a difficult language?

Hello,
I'm a native English speaker and am interested in learning Vietnamese. Is there a good school or program in Vietnam where I can learn Vietnamese?
I am a complete beginner and have no background in the language.

I want to learn Vietnamese and/or Spanish. English is my first language and it's the only language I know fluently. I do know Spanish speaking people and Vietnamese speaking people so that I could practice conversational skills.
but what do you think would be easier for a native English speaker to learn?
