Dating a Vietnamese guy…please help. :O?

So I met my boyfriend online, we've been dating almost a year, and we talk on the phone or webcam almost every day. He moved here with his family from Vietnam when he was 7. His parents are in their 60's, and they can barely speak any English. They did NOT want him dating a girl outside his race, and when they found out he was dating a white girl, they gave him so much hell about it that we had to break up. They kept telling him that I was just using him, I was going to boss him around, I only wanted him for his money, etc. :/
We got back together 11 months ago, and we really love each other...his family has started to accept me, and they want to meet me. I'm so nervous though. My boyfriend says that they will accept me one day as long as I adjust to their culture, and I'm willing to do anything to be with him, I've already started learning Vietnamese...but...someone please help me on how I should act...tell me a bit more about their culture, etc.

Some Vietnamese Lessons?

Alright. My mom is being completely unreasonable. She's paying 120 dollars a year for a Vietnamese class at my church that i don't want. I could use the money she's wasting for the art classes I've always wanted.
The teachers can't teach anything that'll stick with me for the rest of my life. At best, they give you a couple of words you have to memorize for that week. How is that going to teach me how to speak, write, and read Vietnamese any better?
I already know how to speak a bit, even though i'm only half Vietnamese. I'll be able to hold a conversation, understand what's being said, and such but what i really lack is being able to read and write Viet. Not to mention i'm not as fluent in my speaking as i want to be.
So, my question is, how can i speak, write, and read Vietnamese? Are there lessons online? Some tricks so i can pick more up?

Move to Vietnam?

I realllllllllly want to move from the USA to Vietnam, namely Hue/Da nang but I'd settle for a big city or even a smaller one. My questions are these..

1. What do I do for employment/income. I know teaching english is the popular answer but without the TEFL cert. it will be hard to find a job, let alone one that pays well enough to enjoy life.

2. Living? Apartments, houses.. whats the situation and most likely type of housing I would be able to find.

3. Language barrier. I don't speak a bit of Vietnamese.. obviously after so much time there I would pick up the language, but what to do until then?

4. Finally... I am a white boy american. How will I be treated by locals and by others there? I have visited once before and was treated very kindly but that was because I was a tourist and they wanted my money!

Thanks :)
I see you are a prick regardless of where you live. Thanks for the serious answer! I just loved the culture and have spent much time in other parts of asia but found Vietnam to be my favorite location in Asia. I have more skills in my pinky then you probably do in your body, I just don't speak the language is all. That doesn't seem to stop the 10952308 mexicans which move into my country illegaly everyday. Go jump off a cliff thanks.

I have this friend named Steve and he always insults me simon cowell style whenever I talk about my upcoming marriage to this vietnamese girl. Everytime when I say I'm excited to go meet this vietnamese girl in vietnam who my aunt is introducing me to, he says you should be excited about your upcoming divorce. He says your a big sissy who can't get a girl so you get your momma to get you a girl, no girl wants to be with a guy like that. He also says you will cry so much when she leaves you that you will drown and sink like a ship. I told him that this is normal in the vietnamese culture and most girls from vietnam are faithful and they stay married with you no matter what income you make, low or high. I told him that vietnamese girls in vietnam are taught by their parents to get married once only. He says you're better off becoming a prostitute or a hooker because they make good money and all you want from this vietnamese girl is sex and nothing else. This is true and I'm wondering why he insults me like this ?? I know he is copying simon cowell's style of insults.

Which job offer best travel opportunity?

I'm a high school sophomore. I can speak Vietnamese, English, Chinese and a little Spanish. I'm gonna learn some new languages soon. I like travel a lot. I want to go everywhere all around the world, learn their cultures, see the heritages.... But I don't know what job is the best for me? My parents want me to be a dentist to have more money and then travel. I have no idea.

I'm talking about teaching english abroad like in Brazil, Japan, or Vietnam? And what kind of money do they make?

English to Vietnamese translation needed…?

What is the Vietnamese of the following? (no machine translations please! i need a human translator!)

The day I met you was the day I found happiness.
I discovered the meaning of love because of you.
My love for you is growing but hidden.
My heart is crushed by my first love, but I have moved on.
I want to visit you one day in your place.
You are more important than money.
Is it ok if I call you mine, just for a time?

Thanks!!

I am Vietnamese, my husband is Korean, we communicate both in Korean and English. I want to talk to my little son both in Vietnamese and English, but i prefer speaking E to him, because learning E in Korean will spend a lot of money in Korea. I speak E with strong accent and sometimes i speak in incorrect grammar and incorrect pronunciation, i afraid that i teach my son informal and incorrect E. But i really want to teach him E. Tell me your advice, guys. Thanks so much
