What are they saying (in Vietnamese)?

Okay, in the movie Platoon, there's a part where the American soldiers ransack this village and they're shouting stuff that I guess is in Vietnamese at these poor villagers... I am wondering what it is they're saying. If you've seen the movie then you'll know what I'm talking about.

One part is where there's some people hiding in this sort of hole thing underground and the soldiers are saying, "La dai" or like "La dai moi" (it sounds like "la die mao") at them to get them to come out. And then there's another part where Barnes is trying to get this one older guy to talk and he gets the guy's daughter and acts like he's going to shoot her and says something like, "I cacadou! I cacadou vee cee!" What the heck does that mean?? I spelled it that way because somebody else wrote it like that on a blog or something so it might be misspelled.

I tried to find the clip on Youtube but it's split into two different clips, and they might take awhile to load so I don't know if anybody wants to take the time but just in case, here they are:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oNM0Ma-SNY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFmL8oOKl5I&feature=related

WARNING... this is a really disturbing part of the movie so keep that in mind if you decide to watch it.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Okay, thanks, but what are the soldiers saying to the villagers when they're yelling at them (I'm a writer and I need to know for a book!)

You mean to tell me there's NOBODY HERE WHO WAS IN VIETNAM??? Come on, somebody's got to know.

I got a very sweet vietnamese girl who is currently my friend and she and I often talk a lot on myspace & facebook and her name is Natalie Nguyen. It's been almost 4 or 5 years since we started talking to each other on myspace and then transferring to facebook. I really like her and she is very sweet and kind and all of that so I wanted to make her an gift for valentine's day, since we live a lot far from each other I would host the video gift for her on youtube and send her the link. I'm thinking of downloading this music video and then put it into windows movie maker and her a gift. Do you think it is a good idea to use this song as her gift ??? Can anyone please help me out ??? Below is a link of the video I'm planning to download and insert into movie maker and make her gift.

I am half chinese & vietnamese and i can speak in both mandarin & cantonese and everytime when i hangout with my friends who are 100 % vietnamese they say that i'm so lucky to know four languages which is english, vietnamese, cantonese & mandarin and they literally asked me to teach them chinese. They also said it is possibly that i'm the only vietnamese who is half chinese, is this true ?? Because so far as i know in my town there is no one else who is half chinese. Are there any one you vietnamese ladies or guys who are half chinese or half of any other culture ?? Please tell me i'm just curious !

I am Vietnamese and I also am Chinese but do both cultures but I am usually unaware of what culture I am doing, like new years, food offering, etc.

Do you think some Vietnamese look chinese.? I have pale skin and monolids with dark black hair.
Sadly, I encountered a couple of people who I thought were Chinese so I spoke to them in Chinese but they were Vietnamese. Thoroughly embarrassing, I must say. Can you please tell me about it's history, cultures, language , and similarity? I know there are a lot of Vietnamese words similar to Chinese can you list some?

& about the facial features, correct me if I am wrong, but why do people say Vietnamese have dark skin??? That is not true! It all depends on where Viets live. People further down south most likely have tanner skin becuase of the sun, but people in the cities and sometimes the North, have a majority of lighter skin. Chinese people can also have darker skin. Where I live in Vietnam, there are a LOT of Chinese/Korean people who can speak the languages.
Please do not be bashful and please give out good information

Visiting family in Vietnam..?

I'm going to Vietnam in the summer to visit my family that I've never met before. I'm half white and half Vietnamese. I'm only 13 & I don't speak the language very well.. I'm a very obnoxious girl and I don't know what they would think of me if I act like myself. I'm nervous about meeting them and what they'll think of me. My mom is going with me and she speaks te language because well, it's her family of course. But I'd like some advice of how I should communicate or act around them.. Thanks. (:

How many languages can you speak?

Just curious how many languages can you speak at your age? & What's your ethnicity?

I can speak french, english, vietnamese, chinese and I'm 18 and Asian.

I currently speak English well- spanish well- indigious native language well- Haitian creole & french & arabic is ok-
Now Vietnamese is a tonal language. different from other languages. but what can I do to learn?

I really find Vietnamese very fascinating and the metroplex where I live has a great Vietnamese ethnic background population.
About me: 20yr hispanic, junior in college, to be a english teacher . Thanks

we found it inscribed on some sort of ancient vase (we think) & we're just wondering what language it's written in so we can figure out what it is. it was given to us a few decades ago by a family friend who purchased it from Vietnam.

I tried to sketch it out the best I could: http://i56.tinypic.com/23hswhe.jpg

thanks in advance! your help is greatly appreciated! (:

He was aged between 18 & 22 in the army on the DMZ in Korea and Viet Nam. I was a little kid when he went in. I remember he brought the medals home but has refused to speak of what ever happened to earn them. I know he thought I was too young then. I'm nearly 50 and I want to know what my brother went through. His boot camp was at Fort Bragg,N.C. in 1967. He then went straight to Nam.

Incidentally, Which one is considered more useful or helpful ?
So far, I haven't got to learn either of them, & I've never been to Thailand or Vietnam.

I don't need the entire translation, just tell me if i won or lost.

My dad is from Saigon and left during the war (c. 1973). To my knowledge he is the only family member to come over to the US. I've been trying for years to find agencies or web pages that I could search for family I've never met. It's been years since my dad spoke to or seen his family & I would love to meet that other 1/2 of myself! Are there any good places to look or try, other than going to Vietnam and asking people there???

Question about Vietnam/Iraq?

Pleae watch this youtube clip (It is only 3min. of your life) of MLK speaking against Vietnam.

Questions for you:
1. Do you think that MLK would have supported the War in Iraq?

2. If MLK were to make these same types of speeches today do you think that he would have been considered anti-American.

3. How do you think the press would spin his statements of "God Breaking the Backbone of American Power and give it to a lesser nation, b/c we have become to arrogant"?
Mr. Krinkle

You really need to elevate your level of conversation. You think I hate America b/c I raise questions about this war that are killing our best and brightest and draining or economy??? Are also suggesting that patriotism means to be "slow, gullible or easily persuaded."
Obama the Racist

NO NO NO, MLK made America live up to the true meaning of democracy from words/documents to actions and legislation. If MLK were a COMMUNIST during his era he would have supported STATE SANCTIONED SEGREGATION!

How do you say "your window is open" in Vietnamese?

I have a very nice elderly couple living next door and it's raining in their house. They don't speak English & I'd like to tell them.

My baby only knows how to say daddy. We think she may have said mama but we're not sure. My parents just came to live with us. I feel a big responsibility to take care of them since they raised me. We speak Chinese to each other. My husband speaks Vietnamese and so do my parents so they speak to each in Vietnamese. My husband and I speak to each other in english. My daughter goes to her grandfathers house (my FIL) two days a week so he can spend some time with her and he speaks Vietnamese to her. So she being spoken to in English, Chinese and Vietnamese. Is that the reason she's not saying many word? She's 12 months!
Zachary & Jeremiah's Mummy Wow thanks for the information. I guess it's human nature to wonder. LOL

Hi everyone I'm a Rain fan. I'm Vietnamese. I hope someone can help me to translate this clip from Korean to English or Vietnamese. Or a part is OK.

What are the common languages in Vietnam?

What are the most spoken languages in Vietnam besides their mother tongue, Vietnamese?
Are Chinese/Mandarin, English & French common in Vietnam?
If yes, how many percentage of it?

I'm so amazed by her Vietnamese accent and her singing ability in Vietnamese. She even picks up the native Vietnamese accent as well.

Here is one of her clip!

Should I even take Vietnamese language lessons?

Oookay, so the thing is; my parents keep bothering me about the fact that I should take Vietnamese language lessons!
I fluently speak & understand the language, but I'm not so good at reading & writing it... I honestly don't want to take lessons on the Viet language because when I look at my future, I see myself speaking, communicating, writing, etc.. in English! My future goals in life is to be a elementary school teacher here in Washington state, where I was born. Ironically, I'd rather take piano lessons because it's also a dream of mine to learn how to play the piano but my parents disagree & tell me piano's not important in life? :P My parents also speak English but they want me to be able to read/write Vietnamese fluently... ugh. I speak English everyday & I rarely speak Vietnamese except when talking to my dad, lol.

The Vietnamese language lessons run on Sundays from 1:30 to 4... & I feel that could interfere with schoolwork and since I'm in high school, I have tons of hw that I can't finish in one day! :\ I really really don't wanna do it, but I need your opinions. Sorry if I sound like a spoiled brat or something, haha (:
@GreatVanilla,
wtf -.-
