Whenever I order chả giò at a Vietnamese restaurant, they don't know what I'm talking about. How do you pronounce it? Also nước mắm?

chả giò – Ja y-oh
nước mắm – nook mum (When you pronounce ‘nook’, there should be a raise in your voice where the double o’s are presented. Like, noo?k. Same with ‘mum’. It should sound like, mu?m.)
The sounds shouldn’t be long though. Short and simple.
