how come my friends/gf dont like to speak native toungue?

my gf use to tell me she doesnt speak her native philipino langauge, but the other day i heard her speaking it with her mom. same with some friends at work, they say dont speak vietnamese/urdu, but i catch them speaking it. why?

probably just doesn’t feel comfortable with speaking it around you. could be different reasons, could be ashamed, could be worried what you thought about her having a different Heritage than you. could be that she feels like she is leaving you out if she speaks it. hard to tell with just a quick simple question like that.. the best idea is to ask her this question and not a bunch of strangers on the internet.
