I said that I wanted to speak/learn Vietnames with a Vietnamese girl, and she send me that.

Also, what are some good vietnamese websites? Like news, games, etc. Any suggestions would be great ![]()
a couple years ago my dad rented this war movie on vietnam from netflix. its about apachi indians and the army uses their language to communicate on the battlefield. im not sure if this will ring any bells but near the end the main indian guy is walking and this guy with a bayonette comes to stab him in the back and the indian pulls a sword out and chops the guys head off. also when they go to sleep the indian do a ritual that is supposed to bless all the men and keep them from dying. i think the movie is like "winds of ____" and i cant think of whats after.
thx
I would like to ask this question in this section as I think you guys as Vietnamese often come in here so I just want to keep it to a narrow group to discuss.
I have seen recently a number of Vietnamese who I believe the new comers from Vietnam in California. I can tell by the way they behave, talk and dress. What bothers me the most is that they are extremely loud in the public! I see them in stores, shopping malls, markets and they talk so freaking loud without respecting the surroundings. Why do they do that? Aren't they supposed to learn the culture before they arrive? The Chinese people are the same. They walk and talk on the phone like they want everyone in the mall to hear what they are saying. They probably live in a crowded environment and all the motobikes, cars honking so loud and constantly and they have to talk loud so people can hear? If you ever encounter one or some people as I describe you know what I mean.
Hi guys, I am looking for part-time job. I am currently live in Houston (Sugar Land) TX and a HCC student in Stafford area. I can speak four languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and English. I have applied many places, but no luck.. One thing suck is when I am finished interview with manager or interviewer, he/she told me that he/she would call me few days later.. Until now (1-2 weeks already), I didn't get their call yet.. I am desperated and looking for part-time job like cashier, server, waiter, office job or any other available job if they train me. The only job I have worked is office clerk, which is from summer job program for student when I was still in high school..
If you have know some where else is hiring or some trick to get hired, or you are hiring/have some opening job, let me know. Thanks.
Email me woongjohn@yahoo.com or add my nick on yahoo messenger: woongjohn
Again, Thanks if you see my question and REPLY.
In Vietnam, we eventually pulled out and South Vietnam was left hanging in the wind, and the resulting aftermath of atrocities committed by the North Vietnamese Army on the South Vietnamese civilians is well documented. The U.S. has done it before, do you think it will do it again, to Iraq? Pull out and let the cards fall where they may, so to speak?
Hi guys. I've decided to commit myself to learning Vietnamese from scratch with no background at all (it's part of my ethnicity and as a long term goal, I want to be able to be proficiently fluent in it in both writing and speaking).
So I was wondering if there was a good place to start. I've already ordered a highly recommended grammar book that is being shipped this very moment but I want to look into a resource that'll help with my speaking since there's no way I'm going to make heads or tails of what the accent markings will sound like if I just read the grammar book.
I've heard good things from Pimsleur's language courses. The only problem I have is that it is completely audio, isn't it? Sure I can repeat whatever they tell me to say but how am I supposed to relate that to what's written? It's not like I'll be able to figure out that a certain sound will correspond to a certain accented letter without actually having a script to follow a long.
Maybe my understanding of how Pimsleur isn't quite right.. But anyway, any advice for resources to learn Vietnamese both spoken and written? It'd be nice to find something that can match audio to something written. Not sure if Pimsleur does that or not .. Any comments would be appreciated!
How to you pronounce the Vietnamese name Quynh ?
...War???
I heard a story about it on NPR last year- it was supposed to be published in English in 2007 by Random House- but I can't find it on their website, or anywhere else for that matter- Help!!!
Someone farted in the air hostesses face then ran and went the toilet on the cockpit door, banged on the door, striped naked then made chimpanzee noises and started speaking Vietnamese?
Hey guys, I have questions. How to say "I'm sleepy", "I'm dead" and "please don't hurt me" in Vietnamese? Thanks guys ![]()
OK, so I am a charming young 24-year-old American that has decided to travel to the South East yonder. I have a few friends from the States who are Vietnamese and they’re willing to show me all the tourist attractions and keep me out of trouble. However, my main purpose of travel is to bang as many beautiful women as humanly possible all whilst staying at a very high level of intoxication. Accordingly, my question is what do I need to know/ be careful of when attempting to “party like a rock star” in Vietnam? For example, what type of drugs are available in Vietnam and what is the penalty for a tourist being in possession (I am particularly interested in marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine). How much money should I bring, and should it be in cash, traveler’s checks, or bank cards? Are Vietnamese women attracted to Americans? Do they prefer courtship or do they prefer monetary incentives? I do realize that some of my questions are blunt and can be misconstrued as distasteful, but in all honestly this is why a good 1/3 of single Western men go to SE Asia. Just for reference, I spent last summer in Tokyo, Japan and although the drug scene was somewhat disappointing, the women were voracious for Western men, but were not financially motivated and they still required significant efforts for them to put out (but it was well worth the effort as I would rank Japanese women as the best when it comes to sex). I did, however, have the fortune of knowing basic Japanese and a large percentage of Japanese speak English fairly well. Therefore, I do not expect my experience in Vietnam to be similar to my summer in Japan on account of language barriers and a starkly different culture and economic system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I depart for Saigon On July 7th and will be staying for a month.
I got a very sweet vietnamese girl who is currently my friend and she and I often talk a lot on myspace & facebook and her name is Natalie Nguyen. It's been almost 4 or 5 years since we started talking to each other on myspace and then transferring to facebook. I really like her and she is very sweet and kind and all of that so I wanted to make her an gift for valentine's day, since we live a lot far from each other I would host the video gift for her on youtube and send her the link. I'm thinking of downloading this music video and then put it into windows movie maker and her a gift. Do you think it is a good idea to use this song as her gift ??? Can anyone please help me out ??? Below is a link of the video I'm planning to download and insert into movie maker and make her gift.
Im taking a 3rd language and I'm gonna do first year mandarin. Is it easy? i think speaking would be easy but im just worried abot writing.
The immigration problem is very disturbing. These people have broken the law, so why aren't they treated as criminals? Why should we have laws if they don't apply to everyone? We have seen this country stand up and fight to preserve the freedoms we love. Those of us who have lived through Wold War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam war and survived the loss of many loved ones, friends and neighbors find it difficult to welcome intruders that have broken the law.
Now we have been, and are being invaded by illegal immigrants breaking our laws and they are allowed to roam freely among us. They have enlarged our welfare rolls, taken advantage of hospital emergency services, increased responsibility for school teachers who must instruct children who can't speak or understand English. They are involved in automobile accidents while driving their uninsured cars. Why are we allowing this?
Our attorney general tells us "these people only want to fulfill their dreams." So isn't that what Mussolini, Hiter and Hirohito wanted to do? These people should be required to obey the laws and process through legal channels.
At least a brave Arizona governor is willing to fight the battle for the citizens of her state and clean up the ridiculous invasion being allowed by cowardly acts of our government.
i'm hispanic and vietnamese but i dont speak either is that weird. I had a person say i was weird because i took spanish at school when i'm already hispanic and dont know it . and this girl that is vietnamese said "forget you", because she was happy when i said i was vietnamese, but then she got mad when i said i didnt speak it. i guess its because i didnt tell her i was also hispanic.
i think the reason i dont speak it is because my parents divorced at my age of 4 and my mom thought it was too much to teach me any language but english
Umm, I'm trying to write this one birthday card to my friend... but i dont know how to write vietnamese.... can you help me re-write this to vietnamese...?

my school is offering a school trip to france and vietnam next year. you can only go to one of these countries and i really want to go to one.
but i have slight dilemmas.
- i've always wanted to go to france, but the thing that puts me off is staying with a host family for 4 days i think. its the whole different language thing and having showers etc at a randoms house.
- would i have a better time going to france with my family? cause i don't have to follow a bunch of school kids around.
- when shopping, am i going to be pressured that i have to leave at a certain time and follow people into the stores they want to go in.
- all of my friends want to go to the vietnam trip. only five or six girls in my class can go to france. is it better off being with my friends in vietnam?
ahhh, its so confusing.
can someone please help?
thanks.
if so, which ones? other than english?
I like trying to teach myself new languages. so far I've tried French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Swahili, Spanish, and Hindi. I'm currently making an attempt at Vietnamese.

Do you know the recipe to make this sauce? I NEED the recipe cause i am addicted to it and unfortunately I cannot get it in my country! boo hoo
This is a superb spicy Vietnamese Chilly sauce which is made in USA. It is a Red Chili Garlic Sauce, made by Huy Fong Foods (Rosemead, California). It comes in a plastic bottle (also comes in a squeezy bottle!). the bottle has chinese/vietnamese writing on it and has the picture of a rooster on it. The lid is green in color. The bottle says "Tuong Ot Toi Viet Nam" in white letters. PLEASE DON'T GIVE ME THE RECIPE FOR SRIRACHA SAUCE, I WANT THE RECIPE FOR THE CHILLY GARLIC SAUCE - THE THICK CHUNKY HOT SAUCE THAT THEY SELL ON THE WEBSITE http://www.huyfong.com/no_frames/product.htm
THANKS SO MUCH.
Just wanted to add, that I am NOT looking for recipes with "FISH SAUCE" in them please! thanks
I have started learning Vietnamese, and I want to learn the advantages of it.
I'm having an eight grade Orchestra concert for Christmas and theres a line I have to say which is: Now off to Vietnam, where we hear "Jingle Bells" with the flavor of the Far East.
I'm Vietnamese and I can speak it also but I don't know how to read or write it. I asked my mom for help but since she doesn't know alot of English she can't translate it from English to Vietnamese. I tried google translator and this is what it said: Trả ra cho Việt Nam, nơi mà chúng tôi nghe "Jingle Bells" với hương vị của phía đông đến nay.
My mom said its wrong so could you please translate it and please try to include the symbols. Also I don't know if this will help but my family is from Ho Chi Min (South Vietnam). Please and thank you!
Well my boyfriend is Vietnamese and the mom is really pushy. I know most vietnamese parents are strict but she is extra strict. She doesn't like me. How can I talk to her and make her like me?
Hi! I am Vietnamese, born in the US. I have a tutor growing up and can read very little and speak the language with a horrible accent. (But, I try...) So, growing up, my parents went back to Vietnam and discouraged us children from going. I have always had a desire to visit when I finish graduate school, but my parents, particularly my mother has said some horrible things about Vietnam:
1. It's dirty. So, I looked up an article and read an article about people defecating on the side of the roads! She said the sanitation is horrible.
2. Crime. She said if I were to ever visit, I may be a victim or the frequent rape, burglary, etc.
3. She said that the living conditions are intolerable and that I would not enjoy my stay.
4. She always talks about the supernatural and superstitions in Vietnam. It's very creepy, yet annoying because I would not enjoy it if the majority's mentality was this way.
5. Dress. She said some people dress very inappropriate, even go topless or revealing their private areas, which I feel is inappropriate.
6. She said that I would not like the customs of the Vietnamese people and that they have poor manners, and will burp, fart etc in public areas.
Are these things neccessarily true? I surely hope not. I want to visit my extended family and grandparents (I have not seen them in over 12 years.) Any input is greatly appreciated.

Since I was born in Canada, I'm not entirely fluent in Vietnamese like my parents but I know enough to hold a basic conversation.
Would it be tricky to learn Vietnamese and Korean at the same time? I figured since I'm a beginner in Korean and already know Vietnamese, I won't get mixed up easily
My wife is Vietnamese, her mother is from Vietnam. I bought my mother-in-law a Christmas present and I want to write on the card "Merry Christmas (proper Vietnamese appellation)!" What should I write?
I am half chinese & vietnamese and i can speak in both mandarin & cantonese and everytime when i hangout with my friends who are 100 % vietnamese they say that i'm so lucky to know four languages which is english, vietnamese, cantonese & mandarin and they literally asked me to teach them chinese. They also said it is possibly that i'm the only vietnamese who is half chinese, is this true ?? Because so far as i know in my town there is no one else who is half chinese.
