I just saw her on Paris by Night singing "Ice Queen" and looked her up and the internet says she can sing English and Vietnamese, but most of her songs are in English and she didn't say anything in Vietnamese on Paris by Night so I was wondering if she even spoke Viet.
I also observed her singing and she wasn't really all that great as people make her out to be. Her voice sounds like a little kid and the lyrics to "Ice Queen" was really repetitive than most songs and it wasn't catchy as people make her songs out to be. Have people really overstated her "talents" or was "Ice Queen" just a really bad song?
Not to bash on her or anything, I'm simply stating my opinion and I'm wondering if anybody can agree with me or think I'm judging too soon based on just one unimpressive performance?

My friend and I had a pretty harsh conversation about his Vietnamese heritage and he gave me this sentence and left a puzzling comment alongside it.
"Shi notsu col ruts bak ne."
I'd appreciate any help.
I'm assuming it's Vietnamese, but this is taken from a text message so it's the best I can do. Sorry.

I've changed my brakes and exhaust on my Yamaha and keep getting stopped by the local traffic police. None of them can speak good enough English but they seem to be suggesting that by changing my exhaust it is now illegal. I've asked a few locals but they tell me it is not illegal. What is the real law ? Please help

For most of us Vietnamese who live abroad, do you still keep up with Vietnamese traditions such as Tết, Trung Thu, Giỗ (Cúng) Ông Bà, đi chùa, đi nhà thờ? What about wedding, do you still have 2 celebrations, one traditional Vietnamese and one western wedding?. When my sister got married, she wore 2 different outfits, Áo dài and a white wedding gown. Do you speak Vietnamese with your parents and sibblingss or do you speak English? I prefer to speak Vietnamese at home and when I'm out I still speak Vietnamese with my sisters unless we're with someone who doesn't understand Vietnamese then I would speak English. When I meet Vietmamese people , I always ask if they speak Vietnamese then I would speak Vietnamese to them. What about you?

How can Dick Cheney walk around like he is Mr. G.I. Joe when he was giving an opportunity to Protect America during the Vietnam War and decided to take a Pass?
Can we assume that when he got a letter from Uncle Sam stating "Dick Cheney America Needs You" he read it and said to himself "America is Safe Enough"
Lets here it for Dick Cheney: "A true American Patriot"

I never really had a first language, both my parents were Vietnamese, but they wanted me to learn English, so my first languages were just a toss of English and Vietnamese everywhere, and I understood both equally, so when i got in to school, the need to speak Vietnamese becamse less and less, so eventually I stopped speaking Vietnamese, but I still can understand a great deal of it. I would say that I understand about 70-85% of Vietnamese but I can only speak about 5-10%, for those of you that say just use the words you know in sentences, its not that easy. So anyways, I want to relearn Vietnamese, but theres not any programs out there, and if i bought them, they'd probally reteach me words that I already knew, so how should I relearn Vietnamese

I just got an iPhone4 and want to use the Vietnamese keyboard on there. The vietnamese language has alot of accent marks on top of vowels, and I can't figure out how to add these.
I've tried keying in random letters after typing in a vowel, and some letters would give me a certain symbol...but I don't know what's what! Help please!!

It seems odd that the US takes the lions share of blame when the French exploited the Vietnamese people and denied them independence, imposing their own culture and language on the people for a hundred years.
Did the behaviour of the French lead to the later war?
Have the French ever sent aid to the Vietnamese in restitution?
I am not arguing that the US is blameless - the 50's cold war mentality, US domino theory of communism is well known to me. We are basically taught of the US blame in the situation, but not of the French participation.
The religious aspect is very interesting - I had never heard about that before.
